Are you new? If not, list your current characters: ...Well, I don't have anyone right now, but I'm not new. I've played... Helion here, Tohno SHIKI (Roa), and... Kozue Orihara, I believe? ...I think that's everyone I played here...

IC Information:
Name: Helion Blackspirit Lasfort
Fandom: Spirit of Eternity Sword (Aselia the Eternal)
Timeline: Near the end of Chapter 1 of the spinoff game, Spitan. She's also had her experience in the facility, of course.
Age: somewhere between 23-27.
Appearance: In her own world, Helion's most striking feature would be her purple eyes, marking her as a Black Spirit. Of course, since this isn't her world, we'll have to be bit more descriptive, don't we? Helion has very long hair: The side of her hair goes past her shoulders, and the back of her hair is tied up with two black and white (perhaps marine and white?) ribbons, which go halfway down her back. She's actually quite proud of her hair, too, though she doesn't often show it. Her taste in clothing isn't particularly varied, though: She's almost always wearing her pink and black uniform, adding on a white shawl and a belt carrying two or three satchels (at least one of which is entirely filled with cooking supplies) as well as Despair's sheathe, and wearing hiking boots over her feet. The only other outfit she's been seen in is, strangely enough, a maid uniform, which she seems to keep around primarily to wear when she's cooking or cleaning. Of course, you could also skip most of this section and just look at the picture here.

Abilities:In terms of physical capabilities, the game itself has stated that low for a Spirit is still a little above a human in peak physical condition under normal circumstances, but I'll assume that all of that's going to be halved according to the entry rules. The main source of Helion's "power", is actually her 'Eternity Sword', Despair. The sword itself is essentially a part of her, and as a result, long-term separation from it is physically painful. She's also capable of utilizing a "Halo", which is basically Mana materialized and formed into one of three shapes: Wings, a Shield, or a Sphere. Black Spirits like Helion most commonly use the Wing Halo form, which increases their speed and gives them some flight capabilities. (If you're curious, the Sphere makes mana usage more efficient, while the Shield... works as a shield.)

As a Black Spirit, Helion's specialty is speed, and most of her abilities aren't strong, but she makes up for it with the sheer speed at which she can launch into them. Among the spirits that still exist (more on that on the history section), she's the fastest, capable of outpacing almost everything in her world, even without the use of her Wing Halo.

Helion herself is an accomplished swordswoman, specializing in Iaido. It's hard to identify a precise style however, due to the whole alternate world thing: She didn't so much learn a specific style, but rather learned "what style works best with the sword". I have a more detailed analysis here, but a quick overview of techniques she uses are:

Iai Sword: A high-speed attack built to overwhelm an opponent's defense. It's not very strong, but it can bypass most magical and physical defenses.
Starfire Sword: More powerful than the Iai Sword and a lot faster, this attack uses a slight amount of Black mana to disrupt an opponent's ability to deal damage.
Resolution Block: Otherwise known as "let yourself get hit so that you can make sure you hit the other guy". To be precise, it hurts the opponent by turning the force of their own attacks against them, presumably through application of more Black Mana.
Impact: This is the closest equivelant Black Spirits have to "magic". It basically amounts to shooting a big blob of pure Black Mana at the opponent. It's nothing spectacular, and doesn't actually hurt much, but it has the same disruptive effects as the Starfire Sword technique.
Terror: This is her most useful disruption technique overall: It doesn't deal much damage, but it reduces an enemy's defense and slows their movements down, making them more vulnerable in the future. Potentially it can do a lot more, but that requires a bit of training and a lot of experience to do, so it isn't exactly something that'll be available right away.
Weaken: Weaken utilizes Black Mana in a controlled method, to disrupt an opponent's strength. It doesn't actually deal any damage, but it's effective at a disruption technique.
Dark Spring: A "berserker" enchant, so to speak. By using Black Mana on an ally, she can make them hit harder and do more damage, though that same effect disrupts their defense.
Initialize: The most worthless skill ever. It neutralizes the effects of mana in an area around Helion... Though, the odds of mana actually having an effect over anything significant are so low that it's basically useless.
Vanishing Halo: This is another ability that's only useful in Helion's own world. It disrupts the effectiveness of Eternity Swords, which is where basically everyone in her world gets their powers from, with the end result of making everything in an area around Helion half as effective at dealing damage as they should be.

There's one other significant ability that's present in all Black Spirits, which I haven't addressed: It is impossible to stop their abilities with counter-spells. It's unknown precisely why it's like that, but it's nonetheless an acknowledged fact, and is generally accepted to be the "specialty" of Black Spirits.

Finally, Helion seems to have the amazing skill to make nutritious and delicious food out of things that by all accounts should be completely poisonous. This does not in any way mean that they look appealing, however. This is likely another aspect of her utilizing Mana: In this case, using Black Mana to neutralize impurities and poisons in the food.

Also, while this is technically not an ability in the truest sense, Helion's body is composed almost entirely of magic, which itself has a variety of effects: The most obvious ones are that her body has a rather absurd regeneration rate, where most serious injuries can be recovered in a matter of days as long as she gets rest and a decent access to a strong source of magic, and that any part of her body that's separated from the rest of it for long enough changes into a ball of pure magical energy. This even comes into effect post-mortem: If Helion dies, all of her body transforms into that magical energy, which will promptly be absorbed by the closest thing that has the ability to absorb magical power. Less obvious however, is that Helion needs a constant supply of magical power to survive, though Despair can convert things consumed into magical power, and absorb magical power as needed. Most magical power acquired like this is ultimately used to maintain her body.

Personality: Helion... has trouble with emotions. Despair kind of does a number on her emotionally, with the result that she has trouble feeling anything beyond... well, despair. Of course, as a result of that, she's fairly immature emotionally, and whether she's faking emotions or genuinely feeling them, it comes off as highly extreme; she seems to have no middle ground when it comes to expressing herself. It takes a lot to get her to express any emotion, but when she does, it tends to be at a ridiculous level: When she's happy, she's ridiculously happy, when she's sad, it honestly seems like the end of the world to her, and when she's angry, she goes straight to murderous. Perhaps her biggest weakness, though, is from compliments: She's so unused to being praised at all that it brings her directly into her hyperactive happy state. She's like a puppy, really.

When it comes to relationships with others, she tends to be shy around people she doesn't know. On the other hand, she's actually quite talkative with people she knows and likes. She's an extremely hard worker, and very stubborn: Once she sets her mind on something, she's going to get it done, and do it well, no matter what. Mostly so that she can get praised for it. In fact, that was the entire reason she wound up learning to cook: There weren't many people among her friends who could cook, so she took over the job of cooking so that everyone would praise her for how good it is.

As for her previous experience in the facility, it's taught her... Not a whole lot, really. She's opened up a bit more to people, but she also has her own issues, mostly consisting of her rapidly plummeting self-worth because she can never help anyone she cares about in the facility, even when they're around. There's also the whole super-powered evil side thing that she avoids mentioning to anyone she doesn't think needs to know, where if Helion pushes herself too hard her sword will take over, and it... doesn't really have a personality in the truest sense, so much as an animalistic desire to kill and eat everything in sight. And be depressed a lot. It is despair, after all.

History: Okay, I do have my old writeup from the previous times I've apped her, but I know that you'd kind of prefer brevity instead of my obnoxiously long version, so here we go!

She spent most of her life being trained as a child soldier and being treated like a monster for being a spirit. Then she got placed into an actual unit early because the current squad was almost completely wiped out. A few years later, the plot happened and the main character, Takamine Yuuto appeared from another world and war broke out. Yuuto got put in charge of all the spirits in the country, and Helion got attached to him, with a high degree of romantic hinting that didn't go anywhere because the main character and the most of the main cast ascended to godhood, retconning Helion having ever meeting the guy from ever happening in the first place.

The main cast ascending to godhood was a pretty good thing too, since the war and taken a turn for the worse when a horde of gods trying to destroy the world appeared, and only spirits stood a chance against them. The fact that humans were protecting humans from certain death did a lot to help the racism, but the fact that it was accompanied with “but we're all doomed anyways” didn't exactly help things. Fortunately, the main cast returned as gods to help them out and there were god-battles between various people with complete hax abilities and the good guys won.

After all that, most of the spirits left military service, but Helion and a few others stuck around, with the only member of the main cast that didn't ascend to godhood becoming their commander, while Helion was placed as second-in-command. At least until some kid that probably worked with the current commander in the past was added to the group. Said kid was named Loti, and Helion would become attached to him too, partly because he kept doing his best to try to keep up with spirits even as an ordinary human.

After that, a few years passed, and the spirit squad was rebuilt to go out and explore the other side of a gaping chasm on the continent that had never been explored before, where they discovered a flying island... filled with giant batlike monsters that had a thing against flying boats. Anyways, the boat got trashed, and Helion and company made new allies, learned that the bat monsters call themselves demons, and that the demons have something against the humans living in the area. Naturally, this meant that our heroes had to get involved. Which worked well until the leader of the demons decided to personally deal with them and stabbed Loti in the chest with an elemental multi-colored lightsaber. This is where I'm pulling Helion from this time.

Now, if you want the old full version, you can just click here, though it just goes up to the whole flying boat crashing.

Roleplay Sample - Log: The enemies stood before her, and Helion watched every move they made with the eyes of a hawk. They weren't aware of her presence yet, but that could change any second. The ones in front of her, unaware of her presence, were a threat to the nation itself, and had to be stopped at any cost, even if it were her own life. And so, she waited for the perfect time to strike.

And then, it came. They began to move. That was all the sign she needed, as she rushed forwards, dirt flying into the air as she slashed at her opponents. They would be aware of her presence now. Before they could react, she slashed again, slaying several of the enemies. Only a few were left, and they faced one final slash from her, before she returned Despair to its sheathe, Despair sighing in satisfaction at the life it took. Helion surveyed the corpses of the fallen before her.

"Hmm. 20 down... We're making good time." At this moment, Helion faced an interruption:

"Umm... Helion? You don't have to take this so seriously. We're just weeding."

"Eh?" Helion stared in shock at Loti, wondering how he could possibly consider weeding anything but serious business.

"...Never mind. Keep up the good work."

"Yes sir!"

Roleplay Sample - Journal: All right! It's been a while since I've been able to have this much fun cooking! Today's meal is a seafood soup. The nice red shade of the fish makes for a good contrast with the black water, I think. It really gives off a good impression of deliciousness.

...I kind of wish I could grab some more of this water, really. It really fires up the creativity. Just think of everything one could do with black water! All sorts of new and delicious foods are possible!

Well, that's only natural. Black makes everything beautiful, after all. Black trees, black grass, a black lake... It was so beautiful I couldn't pull my eyes away!

Nobody wants to try my cooking for today, though...

This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function?

Well, she's been here before, and the answer is... It's kind of hard to attack her, due to her unusual mental state. When despair's the default mental state, it's kind of hard to make things worse, though of course, the facility always has a way. She's pretty resistant to physical torture too, since... It's kind of just to be expected from her perspective. Even if she's getting better, she still kind of assumes that it's... natural for that to happen.

Questions? Comments? Crazed and creative statements? Those go here. Let's see if I can get away with reusing the old roleplay samples again!
